Work Efforts

The GAC regularly considers a broad range of public policy issues impacting the DNS and other matters regarding the functions of ICANN. This work can result in consensus advice for the ICANN Board or public comment guidance to the ICANN community. This part of the website shares information related to those ongoing topics and activities.

GAC Focal Group on Subsequent Rounds of New gTLDs

The GAC Focal Group on Next Rounds of new gTLDs formed following ICANN64 to build capacity within the GAC and potentially consider policy input into discussions of subsequent rounds of New gTLDs, met for the first time in Marrakech.

The GAC Focal Group on Next Rounds of new gTLDs is geared towards ensuring timely input into the final deliberations of the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures PDP WG. The focal group is open for all interested GAC members to join and its purpose is to brief GAC membership on this key topic, not to represent the GAC within the PDP.  The Focal Group informed the GAC that it will prioritize its work based on the “Preliminary GAC Scorecard: Status of Substantive Areas of Interest to the GAC on the Subsequent Procedures of New gTLDs” (see documentation section). The Focal Group will brief the GAC on its deliberations and discussions, and will not speak on behalf of the GAC.

The GAC Focal Group on Next Rounds of new gTLDs launched at ICANN65.
