Session Details:

Dear GAC representatives,

I am looking forward to welcoming you and your government’s senior official attending the High-Level Government Meeting at ICANN63 in Barcelona. I know there are many important issues on the agenda for Monday’ HLGM. In advance of that, ICANN Org is organizing the Technical Seminar on WHOIS and Data Protection/Privacy Issues, to be held on Sunday 21 Oct from 17:45 to 18:30. The link for the session on the ICANN63 schedule is here: hhttps://63.schedule.icann.org/meetings/901612

This seminar is not directly part of the HLGM’s official program, but serves to provide the attendees with updated information and technical facts about ongoing activities. The GDPR has impacted numerous industries and their data protection/privacy practices. This seminar will provide a technical briefing on the WHOIS services’ origins and how it operates and how GDPR impacts ICANN’s work in this arena. We will also touch on unintended consequences from other legislation or regulatory efforts as they relate to the Internet’s unique identifier systems.

I also hope that you’ll also be able to join us for a cocktail reception following the session to continue the discussion in an informal setting.

I look forward to see you there.

Best regards,

Göran  Marby
