During this session, the GAC is expected to consider next steps following a recent exchange of letters with the ICANN Board following the publication of policy recommendations by the Curative Rights Mechanisms Policy Development Process Working Group (CRM PDP). The Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations in charge of the Office of Legal Affairs, on behalf of the Legal Counsels of the OECD, UPU, WHO and WIPO, took issue with the outcome of the PDP in a 27 July letter to the ICANN Board (https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/mathias-to-board-27jul18-en.pdf). Members of the PDP Working Group responded in defense of the outcome in their follow-up letter to the ICANN Board on 16 August (https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/igo-ingo-wg-to-icann-board-16aug18-en.pdf).
