The BGRI comprises all interested GAC members (currently Switzerland, United Kingdom, Iran, United States and Egypt); and Board members[1] Markus Kummer, Maarten Botterman, Chris Disspain, Ram Mohan (Liaison), Mike Silber and Lousewiese Van der Laan. Co-Chairs Manal Ismail (Egypt) and Markus Kummer convened a session with the GAC to review progress on the agreed work plan. The following issues were raised:
- Clarity of GAC advice. Advice should ideally include whether it is based on consensus; a rationale; and what are the intended public policy outcomes.
- The now-regular post-Communiqué discussion between the Board and the GAC.
At the GAC’s meeting with the Board, Markus Kummer noted that a new Board process for considering GAC advice will be discussed by the BGRI.
